Bill to Authorize Parenting Coordinators Stalls in New Mexico
A New Mexico bill that would allow parents in contentious child custody cases to appoint parenting coordinators has stalled. SB 355 has not been scheduled before the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the legislative session is scheduled to end on March 20 at noon. State law does not currently address parenting coordinators and therefore does not provide regulation or licensing for their use. The bill, sponsored by state Sen. Antoinette Sedillo Lopez, would authorize the use of parenting coordinators as arms of the court. Algernon D’Ammassa, Las Cruces Sun-News 03/15/2021
