Stimulus Bill to Assist Mississippi’s Suffering Child Care System
As a result of the recent stimulus bill, the state of Mississippi could receive a much-needed financial boost for its child care industry. Within the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package is $25 billion for child care providers and $15 billion for families seeking child care. During the pandemic, the child care system has faced a number of challenges, including budget shortfalls and lost income. The state hopes that the funds provided by the relief bill will provide for 80% of children qualifying for support, compared to 28% currently receiving support.
