Ohio Woman Charged After Hitting Deputy and Fleeing With Child
An Ohio woman is in the middle of a court case after striking a sheriff’s deputy with her car and fleeing with her child during a custody exchange. The 19-year-old woman is charged with first-degree felonious assault and misdemeanor counts of child endangering, and interference with the custody of a child stemming. Pandemic Challenges Could Affect Child Support, Custody Cases
A New Jersey couple whose child was taken from them after a traffic stop will return home with their child, though they are still fighting for custody. The child was taken from the parents after a Dec. 3 traffic stop in which North Carolina officers drew their guns, physically attacked the father, and accused the couple of possessing smoking pipes and a marijuana grinder. The parents, who claim to practice a religion prohibiting the use of drugs, say they were not using marijuana. The child will remain with his grandmother until the custody case is resolved. $2M Settlement Awarded To Woman for Sexual Abuse in Foster Care
The state of Washington will pay $2 million to a woman who alleges she suffered sexual abuse while in the state’s foster care system as a child. According to the 28-year-old woman, she was abused for over a decade while in the foster care system in Benton County. The 2018 lawsuit was filed against the state, the Department of Social and Health Services and Child Protective Services, and the foster mother who later adopted the plaintiff. Los Angeles Mother Files Suit Over 9-Year-Old’s Death in Foster Care
The mother of a 9-year-old boy who died in foster care has filed suit against the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The boy died after suffering from asthma-related health issues. His mother alleges social workers should have protected the boy from the alleged abuse and neglect he suffered while in the care of his aunt and uncle. Texas Man Charged With Fatally Shooting Wife, Injuring Stepson
A man from Spring, Texas, has been charged with fatally shooting his wife and injuring his stepson in an incident on Saturday. Law enforcement responded to the incident after the man reported that he had shot his wife. The woman was found dead on the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and the 10-year-old boy was found with a minor gunshot wound.
